How To Clean A Laptop The Right Way

In this guide, you will learn how to clean your laptop in Kenya the right way.

Laptops accumulate a lot of dust and debris, which can cause your laptop to overheat or stop working altogether.

This guide will show you how to clean the external parts of your laptop like the keyboard, mouse pad, etc.

Generally speaking, there are two types of stains that most laptops accumulate over time:

  • Oil from fingers
  • Dust/dirt particles that get trapped in the rubberized coating on top surfaces like keyboards and touchpads.

The former is easy enough to deal with using household items while the latter can require professional solutions.

What you shouldn’t do:

You should never use water on these surfaces as it could damage them irreparably.

Instead, use a damp cloth with an appropriate cleaning solution and gently rub off any dirt or grime that has accumulated.

How to clean laptop case

Do not use water as you will risk harming your device with liquid damage.

Use wet wipes, cotton swabs, or Q tips instead, then wipe off all remaining residue before using another cloth to dry completely.

Remember that some laptops have different shapes than others.

So these steps may vary depending on what type of design yours has.

But be sure to keep an eye out for any liquids which can cause harm in this step!

Make sure you are diligent when cleaning around the power button area if it is visible since this area tends to collect dirt quickly due to otherwise hard-to-reach areas.

How to clean the keyboard

Use a soft, lint-free cloth or paper towel with water and/or rubbing alcohol on it as you would use for any other surface in order to wipe away dirt and grime from your laptop’s keys.

Be sure not to get too vigorous when scrubbing since this can cause damage!

Afterward, dry all surfaces before turning back on the device again so that no moisture is present which could also lead to problems down the line.

You can also spray some compressed air on or around keys and then wiping them away with lint-free cloths.

This way,  all debris has been removed.

You can also use an alcohol-soaked paper towel as well.

How to clean laptop screen

Similar to keyboards, it’s best not to get too vigorous while wiping away dirt and grime, or else you may cause damage.

Cleaning your laptop screen is a lot like cleaning any other surface in that you want to use lint-free cloths or paper towels with water and/or rubbing alcohol on them.

Since these are the most effective way of getting rid of bacteria without scratching anything!

Make sure all surfaces are dry when turning back on so they’re not wet which can also lead to problems down the line.

  1. Fill a spray bottle with water, dish soap, and rubbing alcohol (for stubborn stains)
  2. Spray the laptop or monitor screen with the mixture before wiping it down completely with a dry towel.
  3. Use an air canister spray cleaner by shaking it up for about 15 seconds then spraying directly onto the surface of your computer.
  4. Allow the liquid to sit on the surface for 30 seconds then use a clean rag or microfiber cloth to rub clean in circular motions until all dirt is gone! Rinse out any remaining dirt using fresh water from the sink/tap before drying well.

For touch screens:

Remember that they’re even more sensitive than keyboards so be extra careful while wiping them off.

Use a microfiber cloth or cotton swab instead of anything else like wet wipes or Q tips since these will more likely scratch the sensitive screen.

How to clean laptop air vents

It’s important for airflow inside an enclosed space such as your laptop where there isn’t much room for circulation that this vent be cleaned often.

The best way to do this is with a vacuum brush attachment since you don’t want to risk breaking it by using anything more aggressive.”

How to clean laptop fan

To clean a laptop’s processor or fan, it is recommended that you first unplug and remove as many of the components from your computer tower before proceeding.

Next, spray some compressed air onto any dust particles which may be present in either area (being careful not to aim too close).

And then wipe these away with lint-free cloths.

Once this has been completed for both parts, reassemble them back into their original position.

Cleaning keyboard mousepad

You should use a lint-free cloth to scrub any stains and dirt from the surface of your keyboard. For the mousepad, you can do this by rubbing it with soap or alcohol.

How to clean desktop

To clean a desktop’s casing, we recommend starting off with dusting first before wiping down with an anti-static cleaner which will help remove fine particles that may be stuck in its grooves.

If there are stains present on either the monitor screen or computer tower case then they must be wiped away using isopropyl alcohol (with extreme care) as most other cleaners would damage these surfaces.

Lastly, make sure to wipe down all areas once more for good measure.

Solutions you can use to clean your laptop

If using alcohol: Spray with isopropyl alcohol, wipe down the screen vigorously, then use a dry cloth to buff off any residue.

Microfiber cloth: if you have a microfiber or lint-free cloth that is only for screens can clean your screen without worrying about scratching it up too much.

Vinegar Solution (water + vinegar): For those who don’t want to buy any special products to get their device looking good as new, here’s an old school trick – mix water and white vinegar together in a spray bottle at 50% each and give your computer another wipe down.

This will help break up any gunk on the surface of the screen while making it smell better too!

-Stainless steel wool: You can use this for stubborn stains or spills that refuse to come off with other methods. Alternately you can also use it for polishing your laptop since stainless steel is naturally anti-bacterial.

Remember not to scratch unprotected surfaces like leather though – always test with a small section first.

-Cleaning wipes: This is the product of choice for many people and it’s not hard to see why, though these won’t do as good a job as some more specialized products. If you just want your laptop to look clean without doing anything else then this will work well enough.

But if you’re looking for any kind of real deep cleaning or restoration then they might be worth considering other options too.

How to remove oil stains from your laptop

  • Use a few drops of dishwashing detergent on a damp cloth and scrub the surface gently, then rinse with warm water again;
  • Dry off any remaining moisture using another clean piece of absorbent cloth before it has time to evaporate.

If this doesn’t work then you might need something stronger like paint thinner or acetone.

These are best for getting rid of stubborn marks that won’t respond to anything else (though they should still be used in well-ventilated areas).
